Dear Me

Sometimes you make mistakes.

But I don’t hate you for it.

Sometimes you fall down. Sometimes you do things that hurt yourself and others. You even do things that you know are a bad idea. You allow pride to work against your sense of right and wrong.

But I don’t hate you for it.

You’ve been weak and unkind, even when there was something inside that could have made you strong and charitable.

But I don’t hate you for it.

I forgive you for all the mistakes you’ve made, knowing that everyone out there makes some. Everyone falls apart sometimes. Everyone is weak.

I forgive you because I know that there is no value in hating yourself. Nothing comes out of that.

But in loving yourself, with grace and generosity, accepting your faults and your past transgressions and looking past them to the value you hold inside, something does come from that.

Peace. I believe now that love and forgiveness is the only path to any kind of peace.

So I’ll forgive you, and I’ll love you. That’s the only way I can find my way into the center of you. Where the true core of me lives.
